Frequently asked

How do I join?

Come along for a trial class first. Once you have trained with us, you can pick a plan and become a member, either through your member account or by asking a coach.

How are fees paid?

Casual training is paid per class. Foundation and Unlimited memberships are billed monthly by direct debit through Ezidebit.

Do you offer family discounts?

Yes. Immediate family on the Unlimited plan pay a household rate: $165 a month for two people, $190 for three, and $200 for four or more.

Do I need a judo gi, and where do I get one?

Not for your first classes. Loose, comfortable clothes are fine to start. When you are ready, you will need a judo gi, which you can buy through the club shop, and we will help you get the right size.

Do I have to compete?

Not at all. Competing is completely optional. Plenty of our members never compete and train purely for fitness, confidence and fun. If you or your child ever want to give it a go, we will support you.

Do I need to register with Judo Queensland?

You can start classes without it, but you will need it to grade, to enter official competitions, or to be covered by Judo Australia's insurance. Judo Queensland set their own annual fee, currently around $100 for juniors and $150 for adults, and we will help you register when you want it.

How much do gradings cost?

Grading fees are $25 for juniors and $40 for seniors. Gradings are by invitation only; you must be a Judo Queensland member and meet the RHS grading policy.

Can I pause or cancel my membership?

Yes. We ask for one month of notice. As we bill monthly, that usually just means you finish the month you are in and are not charged for the next.
